Graduated from UW Madison with a BA in 1947 and in 1972 with a MBA. Throughout her life she participated in study groups, attended classes and was a prolific reader. In later life she followed her quest for learning through travel to all seven continents.
In 1948 she married John C. Stuhr. They had two daughters Debra and Diane – both OHS graduates.
Bev belonged to numerous professional, fraternal, civic, and church groups, notably, La Crosse area United Way (President 1979), Onalaska Police and Fire Commission, charter member of Onalaska Historical Society, and Volunteer of the Year Award for the La Crosse County library.
She was a lifelong member of the Onalaska Methodist Church from baptism to her death in 2020 at the age of 94. Bev was active in Sunday school, confirmation, choir and served on numerous committees and boards. Her contributions culminated in 2002 when she donated stained glass windows for the church
sanctuary as a memorial for her husband, her parents, and in honor of her family Beverly’s professional career started at OHS, where she served as the School District Bookkeeper/Business manager from 1957/1965. From 1965 to 1968 she was an accountant at UW, La Crosse. In 1968 she became the Controller of the Gundersen Clinic where she served until her retirement in 1988. She played a significant role in Gundersen’s expansion from a local clinic to a large multispecialty medical organization. At the time of her retirement, the Gundersen Clinic established the– Beverly Stuhr Excellence in Administration fund, in her honor.
Her legacy is one of intelligence, faith, friendship and service. She loved life and she loved Onalaska.

WHO WILL BE INDUCTED NEXT?
Nominations for the Wall of Excellence are accepted every year in the spring. Past nominations that have not been inducted can be nominated for consideration. There can be up to three inductees per year. The induction ceremonies are held in the fall as part of the homecoming festivities.
