Rhonda Wood

Arkansas Supreme Court Justice Rhonda (Sissel) Wood graduated from Onalaska High School in 1988. She participated in Tennis, Cheerleading, Concert Choir, Debate Club, National Honor Society, and was a class officer.

Rhonda graduated magna cum laude from Hendrix College. She graduated from the Bowen School of Law with highest honors and received the top score on the Arkansas Bar Exam. She practiced law and was the Assistant Dean at Bowen School of Law.  In 2006, she became a Trial Judge and served for 6 years.  In 2012, she was elected to the Arkansas Court of Appeals and in 2014 she was elected to the Supreme Court.

Rhonda was a contributing author to two texts on health law. She is a Judicial Educator for the National Center for State Courts, a Toll Fellow, and since 2008 she has trained all new Arkansas trial judges. She was a 6 year delegate to the Ark. Bar Association and the Legislative Liaison on Health Law to the Arkansas Legislature.

She also is Chair of the Supreme Court’s Commission on Children, Youth, and Families.  She was a founding Board Member of the Conway Interfaith Clinic; a non‐profit clinic providing care for the uninsured. She has served on the boards of many non‐profits.

Rhonda is the daughter of Ron and Sharon Sissel. She is married to Dr. Michael Wood and they have four children: Ashley (Wood) Packard, Brittney Wood, Kyle Kennedy, and Sean Wood.

WHO WILL BE INDUCTED NEXT?

Nominations for the Wall of Excellence are accepted every year in the spring. Past nominations that have not been inducted can be nominated for consideration. There can be up to three inductees per year. The induction ceremonies are held in the fall as part of the homecoming festivities.
